Why Double Glazing is so Important for Property and How to Get a Grant

Claiming £5,000 on improving your home’s energy efficiency – how to do it.

Believe it or not, the government will give you thousands of pounds to do up your home. A new scheme is coming into place that will allow homeowners to get a fantastic £5,000 from the government in order to pay for green home improvements. The money can be utilised for improvements that affect energy efficiency, ranging from double glazing north wales, cavity wall insulation, or even cavity wall insulation.

The cash can be used to pay for up to 2/3rds of the work in questions. Low-income homes, on the other hand, can get up to £10,000 to pay for all the costs of the projects. You might be thinking, how does it work, who qualifies, and when does it launch?

Under the scheme, people can receive vouchers that are worth thousands of pounds, that can make properties more energy efficient – potentially saving hundreds on bills each and every year.

The government will cover two-thirds of this as a minimum, of work like two-thirds of insulation and other energy efficiency measures up to a total of £5,000. This can equate to a contribution of £2 for every £1 that homeowners and landlords spend to make homes more energy-efficient – up to £5,000 per household.

Lowest income households mean that the scheme will fund fully energy efficiency measures of up to £10,000 per household, the treasury has said.

So, what can the money be spent on? Energy-saving measures range from upgrades like a loft, wall and floor insulation, as well as double glazing, low energy lighting, and energy-efficient doors.

Homeowners will be able to spend the money on eco-friendly builders, heat pumps and ecological lighting. So how much can you save? It could save an estimated £300 a year on energy bills thanks to energy efficiency.

Through the scheme, a typical homeowner in receipt of the £5,000 grant could pay £1,320, of the £4,000 bill for a cavity wall and under-floor insulation in a semi-detached or end terrace home, while the government would foot the rest of the bill.

So the question at this point is, how do I claim it? To claim, we recommend you head on over to this site where they have a great tool to help you check what you are eligible for. This will also give you an idea of what improvements you could get assistance for.

Remember that the tool is only as good as the information that you input, you won’t know that the funding will successfully work until you apply for vouchers and get confirmation. As such, it’s a good idea to see it as a good option to have in place rather than something rock solid to rely on – use common sense and discretion.

Best of luck in creating a more eco-friendly and financially friendly home for the future.
